Zhang Ziyi On Ignorance Of Some People About China's Recent Earthquake

Zhang Ziyi, star of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," says she was outraged by what she termed as ignorance about the recent earthquake in China.

She said from several Chinese-blog entries over the past week that she has been busy raising money for relief efforts and was surprised to find one group she solicited on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival in France who knew little about the disaster.

"I was as angry as a madwoman. I said, 'Are you idiots? You are well-dressed people who look like your identify with society, but you don't know what's going on planet Earth."

Zhang said she has made pamphlets about the quake to show to foreigners. She donated $144,000 and received a pledge of $100,000 from Wendi Deng, the Chinese-born wife of media mogulRopert Murdoch.
